It didn’t start off as love at first
Just friends flourishing with
Laughter
Days, to weeks, to months,
Almost daily you and I
Understood.
Our friends became a canopy
Of fun, antics, and bonding.
Connected
By common values
And similar interests
Always.
And when my world —
Our stability was threatened and
Scorned
Compassionate, genuine you
Reached out and
Inquired
How you could help me
Feel better. And you
Listened.
You touched a part of me
And my heart
Opened.
Guarded, I kept my feelings
To myself in case they were
Vapid.
Yet time passed and like vines
The feelings grew and
Enveloped.
In embarrassment I write
This poem for
You.
I know you don’t return
My feelings and that’s
Okay.
I just… Wanted to let you know
So my love can finally be
Unveiled.
